God can give me beauty where there were only ashes.

A Bible affirmation for healing from trauma, rooted in Isaiah 61:3.

to console the mourners in Zion - to give them a crown of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and a garment of praise for a spirit of despair. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.

Isaiah 61:3 · BSB

Reflection

Jesus read the opening of this passage in His hometown synagogue and said it was fulfilled in Him. Beauty for ashes, joy for mourning, praise for despair. He didn't come to rush your healing. He came to bring it.

A prayer

Jesus, trade my ashes for beauty, at a pace I can handle.
