Verses for Grief

My grief won't have the final word. One day it will turn to joy.

A Bible affirmation for grief, rooted in John 16:20.

Truly, truly, I tell you, you will weep and wail while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.

John 16:20 · BSB

Reflection

Jesus told His friends they would weep while the world rejoiced. He didn't deny their sorrow. He promised it would turn into joy, not simply be replaced by it. Joy that grows out of grief remembers.

A prayer

Lord, I'm weeping now. Hold on to me until You turn this grief into joy.
