Verses for Hard Times

This trial is building perseverance in me.

A Bible affirmation for hard times, rooted in James 1:2-4.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

James 1:2-4 · BSB

Reflection

James doesn't say trials are fun. He says count it joy because of what they produce: perseverance, and eventually a faith that is mature and complete. The joy isn't in the pain. It's in what God grows through it.

A prayer

Lord, I don't feel joy about this trial. Help me trust what You're building in me through it.
